John Oreltlicher holds an MFA in Sculpture from the School of the Art Institute, Chicago. He has taught at Syracuse University in the Department of Art Media Studies since 1976. He is the recipient of many Fulbright Scholar awards and has traveled extensively as a visiting artist. He has taught at the American Film Institute's Faculty Workshop. His film and video work has been exhibited extensively in Spain, Argentina, Chile, and Canada. His work has been recognized by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars, the New York State Council on the Arts, the Ford Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts. He has served as curator for the International Video Festival, Medellin, Columbia, and for the Joe and Emioy Lowe Art Gallery at Syracuse University. His work is distributed by V Tapes, The Kitchen and London Video Arts.
