The gallery supports, encourages, and funds the projects of both established and emergent visual artists, and is committed to supporting artists from groups that have been under represented in cultural spaces. CEPA also functions as a research and education center for the exploration of new technologies in the photographic arts. Programs include exhibition, a guest lecture series which invites artists, critics, and curators to discuss their work; an artist project program which presents installations and publishes artists\u0027 books; a video and computer imaging facility; a public art program which features exhibitions in public transit vehicles and stations; an independent film forum; artist residencies and grant support for artists. CEPA\u0027s scope is international, providing a forum for artists and curators throughout the world. At the same time, CEPA supports and exhibits the work of artists in the Western New York region, which we define as Allegheny, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming counties and the territories of the Tuscarora and Seneca Nations... CEPA is funded in part by the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts, the City of Buffalo, the County of Erie, Campos Photography Center, and CEPA members.\u0022 (1) In 1976, Pierce Kamke curated lectures, workshops, stereopticon swap sessions and slide shows for \u0022Historical Retrospective of Binocular Photography\u0022 at CEPA and an exhibition of photographs, paintings and diagrams, with a special schedule of performance, film and video events at Hallwalls called \u0022Contemporary Cyclopean Works.\u0022 (2) Contemporary artists Charles Swedlund and Alphons Schilling are also included in the show.
