Ann Bennett

Ann Bennett is an award winning filmmaker, journalist, and educator. After studying American History and Documentary Production at Harvard College, Ms. Bennett began her film career at Blackside Productions in Boston. Since then, she has worked on a host of historical documentaries for public television, cable networks, museums, and non-profit organizations.

Her production credits include: WGBH, HBO, WNET, History Channel, National Civil Rights Museum, and the Apollo Theater Foundation. Ms. Bennett has been honored with numerous awards including fellowships from: CPB/PBS Producers Academy, America Film Institute Digital-Content Lab, Independent Feature Project Documentary Lab, and the Institute for Justice and Journalism at University of Southern California. Ms. Bennett recently received a Master of Arts degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and now focuses her work on exploring the nexus of history, culture, and technology within multi-cultural communities.

After graduating she worked as a post-production manager at Film/Video Arts, a non-profit media access center in New York City.     Carolyn Tennant holds an MFA from SUNY at Buffalo and a BA (1997) from Hampshire College; additional studies include Squeaky Wheel (2003), Visual Studies Workshop (2002), Mount Holyoke (1993–95), Cornell (1993–94) and the Salt Center for Documentary Field Studies (1994). Since 6/2002 she has been affiliated with the Experimental Television Center (Newark Valley, NY) and from 1/2002 served as Research Assistant for Dr. Zimmermann at Ithaca College, performing copy editing and administrative work. Her Chicago employment included office-manager and receptionist roles; her productions include Fenceline, The Last Hand Loader, Rulloff's Brain, Mazamorreo (recipient of a $10,000 Ill. Humanities Council grant), and the multi-media You Don't Feed Me.

    Anne-Marie Stein, former executive director of the Boston Film/Video Foundation (1988–2001), reviews BF/VF programs and operations and attributes the organization's closure to chronic undercapitalization, loss of major funders including MacArthur, constrained public support, limited fundraising capacity and short-term cash-flow pressures. She describes BF/VF's continuing education, exhibition (including the New England Film & Video Festival and Meet the Director), artists' resources and the Intervisions newsletter, and emphasizes lessons about organizational size, strategic planning, staff professional development and selective governance; she earned an MBA from Simmons and joined Northern Light Productions in April 2001.

    Sheri Wills is a video and digital media artist and an associate professor of art at The University of Rhode Island; she holds an MFA in filmmaking and an MA in Modern Art History, Theory and Criticism from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Regus London Film Festival, and the International Film Festival in Rotterdam; professional website http://www.sheriwills.com/.

  • Anne Marie Stein People

    Anne Marie Stein is Assoc. Dean of Professional and Continuing Education at the Massachusetts College of Art; from 2001-05 she was Director of Development for Northern Light Productions, overseeing business development and working on documentary projects. She served on national granting committees and panels and spent seven years on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the national coalition for media arts organizations, NAMAC; she co-founded the Boston International Festival of Women's Cinema and was co-director for many years of the New England Film & Video Festival.

  • Hank Linhart People

    Hank Linhart is a video documentarian and chairs Media Arts at Pratt Institute; he is a former Brooklyn waterfront activist and producer of video documentaries and video art. He holds a B.A. (Roanoke College), a B.F.A. (SUNY Fredonia) and an M.A.H. (SUNY Buffalo). He received NYSCA Grants (1985, 1990) and New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowships (1983, 1989); his work was exhibited at the Whitney Museum of American Art, The Kitchen, The American Center in Paris and on PBS; he was artist in residence at the Experimental Television Center.
