Anne Barlow

Anne Barlow is Curator of Education and Media Programs at the New Museum of Contemporary Art, where she organizes artists' presentations, performances, and critical debates relating to contemporary art and new media. Recent projects include New Museum exhibitions Killer Instinct (co-curated with Rachel Greene); Videodrome II; and Trust Me; and installations by Lansing/Dreiden, Angie Eng, and lab[au]. Independent projects include Copy It, Steal It, Share It, (in collaboration with Michele Thursz), Borusan Art Gallery, Istanbul.

Formerly Curator of Contemporary Art and Design at Glasgow Museums, Anne Barlow has organized numerous artists' residencies, exhibitions, and new media projects, and selected work for public collections and commissions in the U.K. Since 1990, she has participated in television and radio programs on contemporary art, and published with organizations including the Tate Gallery Liverpool, Henry Moore Foundation, and the Edith Russ House for Media Art, Oldenburg, Germany. Anne Barlow has lectured at institutions including the Tate Gallery, Pratt Institute, NYU, and CalArts. https://www.newmuseum.org/

    Barbara London, Curator of Media Arts at the Museum of Modern Art, founded the Museum's Video Exhibition Program in 1974 and established an international context for video and media art, presenting artists including Laurie Anderson and Bill Viola. She helped found the Video Study Center and assembled over 1,000 independently produced videotapes and related historical and theoretical publications to link electronic arts with traditional art mediums. She took two sabbaticals in Japan to investigate electronic technologies and effects on art and published InterNyet, Stir-fry, Non-Personal Computer Art (Lyon Biennial, Musee d'Art Contemporain, 1995) and Time as Medium, Leonardo Vol. 28, No. 5.

    Christiane Paul is Adjunct Curator of New Media Arts at the Whitney Museum of American Art and director of Intelligent Agent; she authored Digital Art (Thames & Hudson, July 2003) and edited an anthology on Curating New Media forthcoming from UC Press. She teaches in the MFA computer arts department at the School of Visual Arts and in Digital Media at the Rhode Island School of Design and has lectured internationally. At the Whitney she curated Data Dynamics (2001), the net art selection for the 2002 Whitney Biennial and CODeDOC (2002) for artport, and curated Follow Through (2005); her other curatorial projects include exhibitions and festival presentations in Madrid, New York, Bilbao, Boston, Ars Electronica and Moscow.

  • Michele Thursz People

    Michele Thursz is an independent curator and director of Post Media Network; in 1999 she co-founded and directed Moving Image Gallery, NYC. Recent projects include a collaboration in a production with the electronic orphanage and artist Miltos Manetas and a guest curator role at the New Museum's Media Z Lounge organizing Cin-o-matic- Memory and the Cinematic Perception, which examined the impact of new technologies on the cinematic experience. She is organizing a group show entitled In Medias Res: Technology's Impact on Artistic Practice at Exit Art, NYC; she has consulted for http://www.Turbulence.org, a net art initiative, and for bitforms gallery, NYC, on marketing and distribution of software related art.

    Sheri Wills is a video and digital media artist and an associate professor of art at The University of Rhode Island; she holds an MFA in filmmaking and an MA in Modern Art History, Theory and Criticism from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
