Anne Marie Stein

Anne Marie Stein is Assoc. Dean of Professional and Continuing Education at the Massachusetts College of Art.

From 2001-05, she was Director of Development for Northern Light Productions, a documentary film production company, where she oversaw business development and also worked on a number of projects. She has served on national granting committees and panels, served on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the national coalition for media arts organizations, NAMAC, for seven years, was a co-founder of the Boston International Festival of Women's Cinema and co-director for many years of the New England Film & Video Festival.

    The First Annual National Video Festival at Minneapolis College of Art and Design and Walker Art Center was organized by Tom Drysdale; the program consisted of workshops, screenings and a panel discussion. Participants included Peter Campus, Russell Connor, Ed Emshwiller, Nam June Paik, Barbara Rose, Ira Schneider, George Stoney, Aldo Tambellini and Gene Youngblood.

    Women's Interart Center, New York, was founded; Margot Lewitin served as director and video directors included Carolyn Kresky, Jenny Goldberg, Susan Milano, Ann Volkes, Wendy Clarke and Veronica Geist. The organization aimed to create interdisciplinary collaboration among writers, visual artists, performance artists and video artists.

  • Marie Nesthus People

    Marie Nesthus is Director of the Donnell Media Center at the New York Public Library and holds a doctorate in Cinema Studies from New York University; she has worked on distribution and exhibition of avant-garde and documentary films with a focus on preservation and exhibition. Under her leadership the Donnell Media Center became an archive and study center for independent film while continuing to circulate videos and other audiovisual materials to the public. She has served on the Film Advisory Committee of the American Federation of Art and on the boards of the Manhattan Neighborhood Network, the American Film Festival and the St. Petersburg (Russia) Non-fiction Film Festival; in June 2002 she received the LEO award for lifetime achievement at the Flaherty Film Seminar.

  • Michelle Coe People

    Michelle worked nearly 10 years in independent film and theatre in production, distribution and artist support; she worked in Marketing at First Run/Icarus Films and served as Program Director of the Association of Independent Video and Filmmakers (AIVF). She served on screening committees including the P.O.V. series for PBS, presented at Sundance and South By Southwest, and held production roles on independent film and theatre projects. Originally from Minneapolis, she was Membership/Education Director at Independent Feature Project/Minneapolis-St. Paul, administered the McKnight Fellowship for Screenwriters, and administers WMM's Production Assistance Program overseeing Fiscal Sponsorship filmmakers and related programs.

    Melinda Barlow is Associate Professor at the University of Colorado at Boulder; she joined CU in 1996 after teaching at New York University, the School of Visual Arts, and Queens College, City University of New York. She edited Mary Lucier: Art and Performance (2000, Johns Hopkins University Press) and is a film and video historian specializing in contemporary independent women film and videomakers; her articles have appeared in journals including Camera Obscura and Art Journal. She received the Lyn Blumenthal Memorial Award and a CU Center for the Humanities and the Arts Fellowship in 2005; she founded the Leah Kelly Memorial Award and has a forthcoming book, Lost Objects of Desire (University of Minnesota Press).
