Barbara Lattanzi

Barbara Lattanzi is an artist whose current practice involves the construction and application of "cinema software". She has written and applied digital code to a range of projects including: motion picture riffing and improvisation ("Unwriting"), remediation of particular "structuralist" films of the 1970s ("HF Critical Mass"), reexamination of the sing-along genre as ideology critique ("C-SPAN Karaoke"), perceptual experimentation that includes extended-duration structures for the moving image ("Optical De-dramatization Engine").

Her work has been exhibited at Temporary Services Gallery (Chicago), Para/Site Gallery (Hong Kong), the Latvian Museum of Foreign Art (Riga) and Smioagalleri (Reykjavik), and screened at San Francisco Cinematheque, Rotterdam, Sundance, Viennale 2002, L'Alternativa (Barcelona) and CinemaTexas. Awards and support include the Center For Land Use Interpretation (Wendover, UT), Wexner Center for the Arts (OH), Danish Film Institute Workshop (Copenhagen), Illinois Arts Council Artist's Fellowships, the Gecko Award (CinemaTexas), THAW Best of Festival and CUFF Best Experimental Film.

  • Kathleen Ruiz People

    Kathleen Ruiz is a media artist and Associate Professor of Integrated Arts at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute who creates simulations, games, sculpture and photography; her work investigates perception, behavior, interaction, simulation, perspective and empathy. She holds a Master of Arts from New York University and is a doctoral candidate (abd) at the European Graduate School. She has received awards and commissions from the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation and New York City and State arts agencies; her work was sponsored by Sony Computer Entertainment in Europe and has been exhibited and reviewed internationally.

  • Laura Parnes People

    Laura Parnes is an artist working in narrative film and video who creates non-linear narratives as site-specific installations that use stylized sets and often require audiences to enter scripted environments. She has screened and exhibited widely at institutions including the Whitney, MoMA and Museo Reina Sofia and has had solo shows in London, Miami and New York. She held residencies at Montalvo Arts Center and Wexner Center, received Finishing Funds from the Experimental Television Center and support from the New York State Council on the Arts, has taught at NYU and is Visiting Artist at Cooper Union; she earned a BFA from Tyler School of Art in 1990.
