Ben Vida

Ben Vida has been writing, recording and releasing records for over ten years, both with such bands as Town and Country, Singer and DRMWPN as well as solo under the name Bird Show. He has released records with many labels including Thrill Jockey, Drag City and Kranky and has toured extensively throughout the United States, Europe and Japan. 2008 brings the release of Untitled, the third album under the Bird Show moniker.

Joining the group for this outing are Greg Davis, Robert AA Lowe, Michael Zerang and Adam Vida. Upcoming projects include works for solo analog synthesizer and the first Bird Show Band release featuring Josh Abrams, Jim Baker, Dan Bitney and John Herndon. Ben currently lives in Brooklyn, NY with his wife Katy.

    Nick Hallett is a musician and curator working at the intersection of sound, moving image, and live performance; his work includes singing across new-music genres, composing for film and theater, and staging new-media performance. He originated the band PLANTAINS (2000–2003) as a live multimedia act combining electronic music and video, and made his New York opera debut in 2005 in Susie Ibarra’s Shangri-La at The Kitchen, where he presented concerts and sang Arthur Russell material in 2008; he performed Meredith Monk selections at Performa07 and the New Museum. He co-curates the Darmstadt series, produces and curates music for the Joshua Light Show, and has two music-theater works in development with Jessica Blank and Shana Moulton.

    Zarah Cabanas is a Philippines-born, New York City-based video artist, live visualist (VJ) and musician (aka Lady Firefly); she worked as Video Editor/Artist at Blue Man Group and her work has appeared on the How To Be A Megastar Tour, DJ Tiesto's Elements of Life Tour and on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. She creates live video performance compositions, pre-composed and edited video artworks, improvised and collaborative sets and multi-channel installations; support has been received from NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, Experimental Television Center, New York University, Chashama and Knitting Factory.

  • Ben Owen People

    Ben Owen's record lists residencies at Experimental Television Center (Oswego, NY, 2007, with Justin Lincoln), Dance Theater Workshop (2006), aMDAT (2005), Free103point9/Wave Farm (Acra, NY) and participation in Mountain Lake Workshop projects in 1997–1998 in Kyoto, Japan. Selected and extended performances from 2002–2007 include solo and ensemble appearances at White Box, The Kitchen, Walker Art Center, Issue Project Room, Diapason Gallery and venues in Tokyo, Montreal and Minneapolis; collaborators named include Kay Nishikawa, Richard Garet, Bruce Tovsky, mpld, Andy Hayleck, Albert Ortega and Matt Mikas. He released multiple CDRs and small-edition sound journals (2004–2007) and appears on compilations and releases from Frozen Elephants, room40, Skeleton and free103point9.

  • Lloyd Fales People

    Lloyd Fales is an independent television producer and documentary filmmaker with 16 years' experience; his media work focuses on explorations of science and nature and for National Geographic he produced and directed Search for the First Dog, The Crows, Street Dogs, and Tundra Swans: Tireless Voyagers. He has produced and scripted for PBS, the BBC natural history unit, and the National Audubon Society; in 2006—7 he collaborated with scientists sponsored by the National Science Foundation to produce Penguin Science (an educational DVD and website) and Return to Penguin City, which will premiere on Animal Planet this year. He has been a producer for Martha Stewart and MTV, is currently producing episodes for a new 13-part series on evolution for the History Channel, and is a 1988 graduate of Ithaca College.
