Brian Frye

Brian Frye is a filmmaker, curator and freelance journalist. He was born in 1974 in San Francisco, spent his childhood in Santa Rosa (immortalized as the creepiest town in California in Hitchcock's A Shadow of a Doubt), received a BA from UC Berkeley and an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. He moved to New York in 1997, suffered through two years at NYU, and founded New York's Robert Beck Memorial Cinema with Bradley Eros in 1998.

He was included in the Whitney Biennial 2002 and the New York Film Festival 2002, and has shown his films at many other venues. He has published feature articles and reviews in magazines including: the New Republic, Film Comment, Civilization, University Business, the Independent Film and Video Monthly.

His work has been screened at the Pacific Film Archive, Ann Arbor Film Festival, Film Arts Independent Film Festival, SF Latino Film Festival and Free Speech TV; he presently teaches in the SFSU Cinema Department.

    Thomas Beard is a writer and curator of film and electronic art; from 2005-2006 he served as Program Director of Ocularis, a non-profit media arts organization based in Brooklyn. Prior to that he was a programmer at Cinematexas; he has organized screenings and exhibitions at Aurora Picture Show, Chicago Filmmakers, MassArt Film Society, Pacific Film Archive and the Museum of Modern Art, New York.

    Daniel Vatsky is a video artist, filmmaker and film archivist who combines varied media with specialized software and hardware to create systems for data and signal processing; his work ranges from transcontinental multi-user installations to low-fidelity performances using slide projectors and found objects. He exhibited at DigitalMedia, the American Museum of the Moving Image (New York City) and Slowtime? at Le Musee di-visioniste (Cologne) and holds a BFA in Film from SUNY Purchase. He received Experimental Television Center Presentation Fund support (2003, 2004), conducted archival projects including The Emile Griffith Project and The Boys of 2nd Street Park (2003), and is affiliated with the Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA).

  • Martin Arnold People

    Martin Arnold is an Austrian filmmaker and installation artist with a Ph. D. in Media Psychology from the University of Vienna; he has taught film production at institutions in North America and Europe. Since 1989 his work has shown at 147 international film festivals including Cannes, Rotterdam, Oberhousen and the New York Film Festival, and he has won 36 awards. His films have screened in museums including the Centre Georges Pompidou and MoMA; recent installations Deanimated-The Invisible Ghost, Forsaken and Dissociated were created with Digital Fusion, Combustion and After Effects and are showing at the Kunsthalle Wien.
