Brian Moran

BRIAN MORAN is a dancer and sound artist who has been working in New York since 1981. Recent projects include "+/-" an ongoing series of DJ/dancer improvisations, "Special Input," a notorious live avant garde/electronic music series at Bar XVI in New York, "Operating System Bug," an electronic analog music solo performance project and "Coffin nor Shelf," a movement duet with Molly Kittle.

Moran also creates improvised sound for the live video group "NNeng."

    David Linton, initially a percussionist, created sound for collaborative dance, theater and performance in downtown New York from the early 1980s; by the late 1980s he was known for live wired solo electro-acoustic drumkit performances and soundscore productions. His 1986 solo LP Orchesography was released on Glen Branca's Neutral Label; in the early 1990s he retired from improvised electro-acoustic performance to concentrate on entirely electronic music. He organized realtime electronic-media events including SoundLab (1996) and UnityGain (1997–present); since 2002 he has produced and directed UGTV (Unitygain Television), a Manhattan cable/webcast project, and occasionally performs.

    David Weinstein is a composer and multimedia artist whose musical and site-specific installation works have been shown worldwide; his musical practice juxtaposes sound effects, traditional and non traditional instruments, synthetic sound, ancient and exotic tunings, and noise. As a keyboardist he has recorded and performed with Shelley Hirsch, Elliott Sharp, John Zorn, Ned Rothenberg and Rhys Chatham; his theatrical, installation and multimedia pieces have received grants and awards. He participated in a long collaboration with the live video performance group The Poool and works with Doris Vila on animated, multi-user, multi-screen responsive environment installations cited at Prix Ars Electronica 2002.

  • Ikue Mori People

    Ikue Mori moved to New York in 1977 and began playing drums, soon forming NO WAVE band DNA; in the mid 1980s she met John Zorn and entered improvisation. She began employing drum machines and in the 1990s collaborated across the US, Europe and Asia while recording her music. The KITCHEN ensemble commissioned =Aphorism.= in 2000 and RELACHE Ensemble commissioned music for Helen Levitt's In the Street in 2003; from 2000 she used a laptop and incorporated live visual manipulation, with current groups including Mephista, a quartet with Kim Gordon, a duo with Zeena Parkins and projects with John Zorn.

  • David Rosenbloom People

    David Rosenbloom is an avant-garde guitarist and composer active in New York since the late 1970s, with earlier work in experimental theatre and solo performance in Cambridge and Berkeley; his ensembles include Chinese Puzzle, the Electric Orchestra and the Outlanders. He composes for forces ranging from solo to small orchestra and works with electronics and mixed acoustic/electric instrumentation (Emulator, DX-7, TX-8-16), and has recorded and toured with Glenn Branca, Rhys Chatham and Robin Crutchfield. His works have been performed at venues including Roulette, Bang on a Can, Saint Peter's Church and the Knitting Factory; he received Finishing Funds 2006 from the Experimental Television Center.
