Courtney Grim

Born in Washington, D.C., Courtney Grim incorporates the landscape into her artwork through a variety of mediums. Her work is comprised of Film, Video, Photography, Digital Imagery, Installation, Site - Specific Public Art and non-traditional paintings. Courtney Grim's video art has been screened, installed and exhibited throughout the United States including: Richmond Center Art Galleries, Kalamazoo, MI; SEFF, Laredo, TX; Fairmount Water Works Interpretive Center, Philadelphia, PA; Athens International Film Festival, Athens, OH; and C.A.V.E. Gallery, Washington D.C.

She is the recipient of Business First's Forty Under 40 award (2001) for community service in the arts; the Burchfield-Penney Art Center's Emerging Artists Award (2000), and most recently an Individual Artists Grant from the New York State Council on the Arts. She has worked in the Artist in Residence Program at the Experimental TV Center. Courtney Grim has lived and worked in New York since 1993.

She graduated from Ohio University in 1992 and received her MFA in 1996 from the College of Imaging Arts and Science, Rochester Institute of Technology. Courtney Grim has lived and worked in New York since 1993.

  • Kristin Tripp People

    Kristin Tripp is a video and multimedia artist and photographer with a sustained exhibition record including Moving Image at Anthology Film Archives (2000), shows at Artists Space and A.I.R. Gallery (1998), and exhibitions at the Bronx Museum and 500X in Dallas (1996–1991). She lectured in Video and AVID editing at Maryland Institute, New School, and Ramapo College (1998–2001) and worked as an AVID systems analyst, senior system analyst and freelance videographer/editor (1991–2000). Her honors include an Artist Studio Fellowship from Bronx Council on the Arts (1997–98), Artist in the Marketplace (1995–96) and residencies at the Experimental Television Center (1994–98); selected works include Rapuznel's Revenge (1998–99), Surface Tension (1997–98) and Essential Natures (1993); she holds an MFA from SVA (1993) and a BFA from University of North Texas (1990).

  • Laurie Beth Clark People

    Laurie Beth Clark was raised in New York City and holds a B.A., an M.A. in Visual Arts and an M.F.A.; since 1985 she has lived in Madison, Wisconsin, where she teaches Installation and Video and has held administrative roles. Her multidisciplinary practice uses video, performance, installation and multimedia to examine social issues; projects in Germany consider the holocaust and other genocides, and she is developing international research on trauma memorials and shopping environments. She received fellowships from Jerome and McKnight and published in anthologies such as A Performance Cosmology (Routledge, 2006).

    Sabine Gruffat is a media artist based between Brooklyn, NY and Detroit, MI; she holds a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Born in Bangkok and raised in Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong and New York, she has also lived in Exeter, Barcelona, Paris and Providence. Her films, videos, photographs and installations have screened or been exhibited at venues including AS220 (Providence), PDX Film Festival (Portland), The Ice Factory (Chicago), the Gene Siskel Film Center and Art In General; her practice employs photography, film, digital video, web and analog/digital technologies and references Super 8 aesthetics.

    Jennifer Schmidt (b. 1975, Bedford, Indiana) is a multi-media artist based in Brooklyn, NY and Boston, MA who works in printed media and graphic design to create sculptural installations, video and screenprinted ephemera. She earned an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (1999) and BAs in Studio Art and Art History from the University of Delaware (1997). Her work has screened and been exhibited internationally, including Pulsar (Caracas) and Cinema-Scope (London and Miami); publications include Collezioni:Edge, Eleven Bulls, Big Red and Shiny and Drain Journal.
