The Creative Artists Public Service Program was funded by the New York State Council on the Arts to support individual artists' work in a variety of disciplines.

Creative Artists Public Service Program (CAPS), New York City. $600,000 for financial assistance to individual New York State artists to create new work and participate in public service activities. From a total of 2,874 applicants 142 artists received fellowships enabling them to execute projects in twelve disciplines. The amounts awarded ranged from $1,500 to $5,000, the average amount being $2,700.
