Dara Meyers-Kingsley is a film and video art curator specializing in collections management, preservation and exhibitions. Ms. Meyers-Kingsley was a founding member of Independent Media Arts Preservation, Inc. (IMAP) the organization for which she presently serves as Director. Previous positions include an affiliation with VidiPax, the magnetic media restoration company where she provided archival management consultation services to a variety of clients in the museum, performing and visual arts, and broadcast industries. Staff positions include Director of the Film and Video Collections at The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts (1993-1996) where she oversaw the preservation, restoration, management and marketing of the films and videos of Andy Warhol and film and video program curator at The Brooklyn Museum (1987-1993) where she organized 20 exhibitions of international media. A video art historian, Ms. Meyers-Kingsley is also a guest curator specializing in work from the 1970s. Her touring retrospective of the video and audio work of Adrian Piper MEDI(t)Ations traveled to five cities over the course of two years (1999-2001). Prior recent exhibitions include SURVEYING TIME: THE VIDEO ART OF HERMINE FREED 1973-1998, CHANNEL MIX: FILMS, VIDEOS AND RELATED WORK by Keith Sonnier 1968-1977, and REEL WORK: ARTISTS' FILM AND VIDEO OF THE 1970s, the inaugural film and video exhibition for the Museum of Contemporary Art, Miami. Ms. Meyers-Kingsley has been a granting panelist for the New York State Council on the Arts, the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, and the Women's Film Preservation Fund of New York Women in Film and Television. She has been on the Selection Committees for the Video Festival of the New York Film Festival, the national Council on Foundations and "P.O.V."
