Deborah Johnson

Deborah Johnson, aka CandyStations, is a multi-disciplinary artist and designer. She spends the majority of her time as a traveling video performer, having designed visuals and sets for music groups such as Sufjan Stevens, Wilco, Chocolat & Akito, Calexico, and Lambchop. When home, she produces web, print, animation and video projects for a wide range of folks. She has exhibited worldwide in both group and solo shows.

In January of 2008 she collaborated with Truckstop Media's Braden King and musician Shahzad Ismaily on an installation and performance as part of Sundance's New Frontiers. She attended the Digital Media Residency at the Atlantic Center for the Arts in August 2008, where she worked and performed along with German audio / artist Carsten Nicolai. Deborah is also a Visiting Professor at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. Work examples can be seen at https://www.candystations.com.     Jessica Rylan is a Boston-area sound artist and electronic musician whose work focuses on the design and construction of modular synthesizers using analog electronic circuits; she uses these instruments in gallery installations and high-energy live performances. She performs extensively throughout New England and has undertaken national tours reaching Seattle and San Francisco; she has performed live on radio and was featured in a PBS documentary in March 2003. She has created installations for the LIST Gallery for Visual Arts at MIT, the Boston Center for Contemporary Art, Bard College, the Berwick Research Institute and the Massachusetts College of Art; she holds an MFA in electronic music from Bard College, Avondale-on-Hudson, New York and has received grants from the Penny McCall Foundation and the LEF Foundation.

    Pamela Susan Hawkins is an artist whose time based works have been shown at the European Media Arts Festival (Osnabr¸ck, Germany), WRO 97 (Wroclaw, Poland), Art in General (New York city), Mobius (Boston) and the National Poetry Video Festival (Chicago); she recently toured central Europe. Her 15 year practice encompasses video, audio, digital, printmaking and photography; she holds a BFA in Printmaking from Rochester Institute of Technology and an MAH in Media Study and Fine Art Photography from the University at Buffalo. She held residencies at the Experimental Television Center and NOTAM (Oslo), currently teaches at N.Y.S.C.C., and founded and co-instructs the Experimental Television Center's International Student Residency.

  • Melinda Rackham People

    Melinda Rackham is an artist and writer based in Sydney, Australia; she has worked online since the mid 1990s from the domain www.subtle.net, creating imaginal and hypertextual sites that explore online identity, locality, sexuality, community, viral symbiosis and trans species relations. She is undertaking a Phd in Virtual Media at College of Fine Arts, University of New South Wales; her writing has appeared in Ctheory, Culture Machine, Leonardo and Realtime, and she has presented at Contagion (Australia), Invencao (Brazil) and Consciousness Reframed (Wales). She has held residencies at Polar Circuit (Finland) and Discovery at Banff Center for the Arts (Canada); her award-winning web works have been included in Beyond Interface, Arco Electronico, Perspecta, Transmediale, File, Art Entertainment Network, The Montreal Biennale, European Media Art Festival and ISEA.
