Debra Swack is a new media artist whose projects have been internationally exhibited at many institutions including Princeton University, the Banff Center for the Arts, the New York Hall of Science, The Arts and Genomics Centers in both Amsterdam and Vancouver, Xerox's Palto Alto Lab, Real Art Ways ("Works from the Sol LeWitt Collection") and the Beecher Center for Arts and Technology. Her work is mentioned in Xerox Parc's "Art and Innovation" and Stephen Wilson's "Information Arts" both published by MIT Press and also published in the 2006 competition issue of PhotoReview selected by Philip Brockman, Senior New Media and Photography Curator at the Corcoran. She is currentlly collaborating with the Mind Brain Institute in Switzerland on a video/digital photographic project exploring emotions and the brain ("The Emotions" after Charles Darwin). "Digital Maze Symmetry Project" which will allow the user to grow their own maze interactively according to the principles of symmetry will be produced this summer (adapted for a CAVE environment) at the Banff Center for Arts under a co-production grant. "Birdsongs; the Language Gene" was presented in the "Sonic Fragments" soundart festival at Princeton University in March. In addition to being in the collection of the Rhizome artbase her work in also in the collection of MOMA,The New York Public Library, the Beecher Center for Arts and Technology, Princeton University, Banff Center for the Arts, Xerox and the Sol LeWitt Collection.
