Dudley Evenson

Dudley Evenson co-founded Soundings of the Planet in 1979 with her husband Dean. Together, they have produced over 35 albums and she has been the art director and copy writer for all of the Soundings releases. A Multimedia Artist Dudley works with video, photography, graphics, writing, music and dance.

She plays harp and autoharp with intuition and feeling and uses her voice as a complementary instrument. She has produced numerous concerts, tours, and events, including the Festival of the Creative Spirit, an insightful eight-day gathering in Tucson, which brought together many art forms, ritual, and ceremony. She coordinated the Soundings of the Planet planetarium series, utilizing the special effects and laser imagery of the sky dome, along with music, dance, slides and poetic readings.

In addition, she has written articles ranging from relationships and healing to environmental issues which have been published in New Age Retailer, Napra Trade Journal, Children of the Dawn, Whatcom Watch, and The Bellingham Herald. She is currently working on an autobiographical book about Soundings of the Planet and her family's adventurous journey from the '60s to the '90s. Dudley is also an environmental activist in her community and has spearheaded the Interurban Neighbors group for which she produced two videos, several newsletters, and community events aimed at saving a local urban forest and its wetlands from development. Dudley and Dean have been together since 1968 and have three children: Cristen, Sarah and Elijah.

    Liz Phillips, a New York-based artist, has been making interactive installations for the past thirty five years; she uses sound as primary material and detects presence and movement with capacitance radio-frequency fields, computers, a K-2000 synthesizer and C++ programs co-designed by Michael Wu to convert voltages into sound and image. Born in New Jersey in 1951, she received a B.A from Bennington College in 1973 and co-founded Parabola Arts Foundation in 1981. Her work has been shown at The Whitney, SFMOMA and Ars Electronica; she collaborated with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company.

    Annea Lockwood is a composer and sound artist who explores natural acoustic sounds across sound art, installations, text-sound, performance and concert music; her work has been presented at venues and festivals including the Whitney Museum, De Ijsbreker (Amsterdam), Other Minds and the Walker Art Center. In 2005 she completed A Sound Map of the Danube, a four-year surround-sound installation premiered at the Donau Festival in Krems a.d. Donau that incorporates water, animal and underwater insect sounds, riverbed rocks and local voices.
