Elan and Jonathan Bogarin

Elan and Jonathan BogarÌn are the Directors, Producers, Cinematographers, & Animators of Invisible Murals. They are a collaborative sister and brother filmmaking team. Jonathan is an artist who creates paintings and public artworks made in collaboration with youth.

He has taught for many years at the high school and university levels, and is now deeply involved in merging the disciplines of art and education. He has created collaborative public projects in both the US and Venezuela working in partnership with schools, galleries, non-profit organizations, and other artists. He received his BFA in Painting and Art History from the Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA in Visual Arts from Columbia University.

Elan is a New York City based filmmaker/photographer and graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. Elan most recently produced the feature film Big Fan for director Robert Siegel, the writer of Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler. Big Fan premiered as an Official Selection at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.

Other recent projects include God's House, a feature-length documentary about Muslims who saved Jews during the Holocaust for JWM Productions and a short documentary for the National Gallery of Art for Oscar-winning director, Aviva Slesin. In 2008, she co-founded The Wassaic Project, an annual multidisciplinary arts festival in historic Wassaic, New York (wassaicproject.com). In addition, Elan has recently exhibited her photographic work at Rhonda Schaller Gallery in New York's Chelsea art district and she will be pursuing an MFA in photography at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in fall 2009.

    Thomas Beard is a writer and curator of film and electronic art; from 2005-2006 he served as Program Director of Ocularis, a non-profit media arts organization based in Brooklyn. Prior to that he was a programmer at Cinematexas; he has organized screenings and exhibitions at Aurora Picture Show, Chicago Filmmakers, MassArt Film Society, Pacific Film Archive and the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
