Elif Savas Felsen

Elif Felson has been a soloist with the Istanbul State Opera and a prize-winning opera singer in America. Her work "Coop" examines the many military interventions in Turkey, where she lived for a number of years.

The film explores issues of how abstract ideals of freedom of speech and human rights can be applied in countries facing political exigencies. It includes rare photos and news service footage. Coop was supported by the Finishing Funds Program of the Experimental TV Center in 1999.
