Ephraim Asili

Ephraim Asili has a B.A. in film and media arts from Temple University, and is currently studying for his MFA at Bard. His work has been shown at the Diamond Screen Film Festival, Scribe Video Center, DUTV, The University of Bahia, New York University, The International House, The Bryn Mawyr Film Institute, the Amble Theater, and the New York MIX Festival. Asili's video Points on a Space Age has recently been selected for distribution with MVD distributors.

In addition to my own art, I work as teacher at Scribe Video Center in Philadelphia. I teach video production and editing. I am sure that I will be all right with the equipment with a little instruction.

  • Owen Shapiro People

    Owen Shapiro directs the Film Program in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University and founded the Syracuse International Film and Video Festival (SIFVF), serving as its artistic director with executive director Christine Fawcett Shapiro. He has led the program since 1973, designed the B.F.A. and M.F.A. curricula and film facilities in the Shaffer Art Building, and has made over 30 films and a dozen videos. His work received a 1976 retrospective at the Cinematheque Francaise in Paris and a 1987 Fulbright Fellowship to teach at Tel-Aviv University.

  • Deborah Stratman People

    Deborah Stratman was Adjunct Assistant Professor of Film, Video, and New Media (1998) at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago; she holds a BFA (1990) from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and an MFA in Film/Video (1995) from the California Institute of the Arts. Her work has been exhibited at Temporary Services Gallery (Chicago), Para/Site Gallery (Hong Kong), the Latvian Museum of Foreign Art (Riga) and Smioagalleri (Reykjavik), and screened at San Francisco Cinematheque, Rotterdam, Sundance, Viennale 2002, L'Alternativa (Barcelona) and CinemaTexas. Awards and support include the Center For Land Use Interpretation (Wendover, UT), Wexner Center for the Arts (OH), Danish Film Institute Workshop (Copenhagen), Illinois Arts Council Artist's Fellowships, the Gecko Award (CinemaTexas), THAW Best of Festival and CUFF Best Experimental Film.

  • "Intermedia 68" Chronology

    New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) funds experimental media artists as part of Intermedia 68, a theater workshop at the Brooklyn Academy of Music; projects include environmental video performances, film projections and videotapes. Contributors listed include Aldo Tambellini, Nam June Paik, Les Levine, Carolee Schneemann, Terry Riley, Dick Higgins, Ken Dewey and USCO.
