EAT sought to pair artists with engineers, and worked with Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns, John Cage and Andy Warhol. Some collaborations were exhibited at the World Expo '70 in Osaka, Japan.

  • Billy Kluver People

    Billy Kluver (born Johan Wilhelm Kluver in Monaco, raised in Salen, Sweden) trained in electrical engineering at the Royal Institute of Technology and received a Ph.D. from UC Berkeley; he worked at Bell Telephone Laboratories (1958–68) and assisted on early television and underwater camera projects. He collaborated with Jean Tinguely and Robert Rauschenberg, co-organized 9 Evenings (1966) and co-founded Experiments in Art and Technology to link artists with engineers; he led the Pepsi Pavilion team for Expo '70 and contributed to Rauschenbergs Mud Muse. In later years he published A Day with Picasso (1997) and Kikis Paris (1989, with Julie Martin) and received honors from Sweden, Parsons and France; he died in 2004.

  • An Interview with Peer Bode Interview

    Peer Bode began producing video around 1971 with an early black-and-white portapak while an undergraduate at SUNY Binghamton; he worked with filmmakers Larry Gottheim and Ken Jacobs and used the Experimental TV Center's keyers, mixers and colorizers. Remaining in Binghamton through the mid-1970s, he collaborated with the American Dance Asylum and with engineers and artists Ralph Hocking, Nam June Paik, Shuya Abe, David Jones and Walter Wright on tools such as the Paik-Abe Colorizer/Synthesizer, SEGs, Scan-A-Mate, a Spatial and Intensity Digitizer and an Elf II computer.
