- Finishing Funds Chronology
Finishing Funds is a grants program of the Experimental Television Center supported by the New York State Council on the Arts; awards for 1998 were made to a range of video, film and multimedia artists including Alan Berliner, Anita Cheng, Abigail Child and others. Projects include web-based sonic art, digital video performance, 16mm film, multi-monitor and four-channel installations; several projects received additional funding from New Television's NTV Artbytes, Fulbright, the Banff Center, NYSCA, the Wexner Center, Art Matters, the Jerome Foundation, the Calvin Klein Foundation, the McAlpin Charitable Trust, the NY Community Trust and the Stonewall Community Foundation. A panel featuring Barbara Lattanzi and Vincent Grenier is noted.

Recipients produced videos, films, installations, animation and a multi-media interactive CD Rom addressing subjects such as adolescence, identity, memory, domestic computing, internet collaboration, historical events and Holocaust memory. Projects used technologies ranging from 1950s TV sets and lo-tech materials to real-time internet participation and CD-Rom interactivity; a panel featured Pia Cseri-Briones and Jim Hubbard.

The Experimental Television Center administered three grants programs, all of which are now ended: Finishing Funds for individual media artists in New York state; Presentation Funds for non-profit New York state media arts organizations to present artists; and Media Arts Technical Assistance for organizational and professional development of non-profit media arts programs.
