Heather Raikes

Heather Raikes is a new media/performance artist who has been exploring new media poetics, telematics, contemporary semiotics, dance/technology synthesis, and technoetic performance forms for more than a decade. She has founded and directed several visionary new media/performance collectives, including Neopoetics, Harakti Multimedia, Gemini Performance Project, and the Temple University New Media Performance Lab. Her repertoire of original work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, and includes new media performances, installations, video, electronic text, visual art and interactive media design.

Raikes' work has been shown at such venues as HEREArt (New York), Clark Studio Theater at Lincoln Center (New York), San Diego Museum of Art (San Diego), Pixelraiders (UK), International Festival of Performance (Barcelona), Philadelphia Fringe Festival Dance/Technology Program (Philadelphia), Aaron Davis Hall (New York), and Inscriptions in the Sand (Cyprus). She has performed at venues such as the American Dance Festival, Jacob's Pillow, The Joyce Theater, and the New York Downtown Arts Festival.

  • Laurie Beth Clark People

    Laurie Beth Clark was raised in New York City and holds a B.A., an M.A. in Visual Arts and an M.F.A.; since 1985 she has lived in Madison, Wisconsin, where she teaches Installation and Video and has held administrative roles. Her multidisciplinary practice uses video, performance, installation and multimedia to examine social issues; projects in Germany consider the holocaust and other genocides, and she is developing international research on trauma memorials and shopping environments. She received fellowships from Jerome and McKnight and published in anthologies such as A Performance Cosmology (Routledge, 2006).

  • Jessica Rylan People

    Jessica Rylan is a Boston-area sound artist and electronic musician whose work focuses on the design and construction of modular synthesizers using analog electronic circuits; she uses these instruments in gallery installations and high-energy live performances. She performs extensively throughout New England and has undertaken national tours reaching Seattle and San Francisco; she has performed live on radio and was featured in a PBS documentary in March 2003. She has created installations for the LIST Gallery for Visual Arts at MIT, the Boston Center for Contemporary Art, Bard College, the Berwick Research Institute and the Massachusetts College of Art; she holds an MFA in electronic music from Bard College, Avondale-on-Hudson, New York and has received grants from the Penny McCall Foundation and the LEF Foundation.

  • Prema Murthy People

    Prema Murthy examines the shifting boundaries of a gendered and socially constructed body by remapping its surface through new technologies; she explores gender embodiment through performance, net-based installation, digital prints and sound. Her work has been shown at venues including The Clocktower Gallery-NY, The Gertrude Stein Repertory Theater-NY, Sandra Gering Gallery-NY, MIT-Cambridge, MA, The Alternative Museum-NY, The University of Iowa-IA and The Bianca Pilat Gallery-Milan, IT; she has collaborated with Floating Point Unit, The Electronic Disturbance Theater and Fakeshop. She has been awarded a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in Computer Arts and is currently an artist-in-residence at Harvestworks Digital Media Arts Center in New York; in the Fall 1999 she will present with Fakeshop the performance/installation multiple_dwelling at The Ars Electronica Festival.

  • Nancy Walker People

    Nancy Meli Walker is a video artist who improvises with video, paints with light and investigates the union of sound and image; she co-founded the Performed Audio/Video (PAV) groups NNeng and The Poool. Her live video productions include collaborations with David Weinstein, Julie Nichols, Elise Kermani, 77Hz, Barbara Held and Hoppy Kamiyama performed in USA, Barcelona, Madrid and Tokyo. Her solo work spans photography, glass sculpture and 3D animation presented as installations, 2D and sculpture; she has held residencies at the Experimental Television Center, Women's Studio Workshop and HarvestWorks.

  • Allison Berkoy People

    Allison Berkoy (http://www.berkoy.com) holds an MA in Performance Studies from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and a BS from Northwestern University; her installations and screenings have been shown at Monkey Town, Maiden Brooklyn Gallery, Millennium and the Virginia Film Festival. She has presented live video projection spectacles at Tonic, Abrons Art Center, CMJ Music Festival, Midwest Music Summit, The Knitting Factory and Gallapagos Art Space.
