Igor Vamos is a multi-disciplinary artist from Albany, New York. As a propagandist, his media performances have reached international audiences through the mainstream news. For example, a 1994 project called the Barbie Liberation Organization was a feature story in newspapers and television worldwide, appearing in sources ranging from The New York Times to Fohla de Sao Paolo. As a video and film maker, Vamos' work has shown in museums, festivals, and on television. For example, his 1998 documentary Le Petomane, which explores the life of an unusual turn of the century stage performer, has shown in festivals like the San Francisco International Film Festival and The Black Maria Film Festival. Vamos also creates other forms of public art, much of it in his capacity as The Director of Media Resources for The Center for Land Use Interpretation, a Los Angeles based non-profit organization dedicated to a better understanding of our common ground. Vamos has an MFA from the niversity of California, San Diego. He has taught at California Institute for the Arts, and is currently an Assistant Professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Integrated Electronic Arts program.
