Independent Electronic Music Center, Trumansberg, New York. Founded by Robert Moog and Reynold Weidenaar in 1965. Weidenaar was connected with the Center from the Summer of 1965 to February 1969, and edited Electronic Music Review.

  • The Electronic Kitchen Chronology

    The Electronic Kitchen in New York City was founded by Steina and Woody Vasulka as a screening and performance center for the electronic arts at the Mercer Arts Center; its original location was the Broadway Central Hotel, which housed the Mercer Arts Center. In 1971 it established a first annual video festival; in 1973 it moved to Broome Street and was first funded through EAI.   • The Kitchen Bibliography

    The Kitchen Center for Video and Music was founded in 1971 by Woody and Steina Vasulka and relocated in 1973 from the Broadway Central Hotel kitchen to a Broome Street loft. Initially funded through Howard Wise and Electronic Arts Intermix, it became the non-profit Haleakala, Inc. under Robert Stearns and shifted from funding experiments to presenting electronic music and video works. It has shown tapes and performances by artists including Juan Downey, operates a video room for 1/2- and 3/4-inch tapes, publishes a monthly calendar and catalog, and is funded by the National Endowment for the Arts.

    Women's Interart Center, New York, was founded; Margot Lewitin served as director and video directors included Carolyn Kresky, Jenny Goldberg, Susan Milano, Ann Volkes, Wendy Clarke and Veronica Geist. The organization aimed to create interdisciplinary collaboration among writers, visual artists, performance artists and video artists.
