    Dave Jones is a video artist and engineer who served as technical consultant for the Experimental TV Center since 1974; he designed imaging tools for the Residency Program, including frame buffers, keyers, colorizers and software. He worked for Singer-Link Simulators, GE Aerospace and Cornell University and built video-to-film recorders; he also created custom equipment and software for artists such as Gary Hill and Shu Lea Cheang. His machines were used in the 1993 film Sliver and his designs are cited in Grollier's Academic American Encyclopedia and Software Toolworks' CD-ROM Encyclopedia.

    David Jones became technician at the Center; artists in residence included Taka Iimura, Doris Chase and Michael LV Butler, and the Center ran regular workshops on video production, imaging and synthesis. NYSCA funded traveling performances by Waiter Wright and supported development of the Jones Colorizer and installation of an oscillator bank; workshops and performances took place at The Kitchen, Anthology Film Archives and the Contemporary Art Museum in Montreal. In Spring 1975 Dr. Don McArthur developed the SAID (Spatial and Intensity Digitizer), and David Jones, Don McArthur and Waiter Wright began a computer-based imaging project initially based on an LSI-11; artists in residence included Neil Zusman and Gary Hill.
