Jody Zellen

Jody Zellen is an artist living in Los Angeles, California. She works in many media simultaneously making photographs, installations, net art, public art, as well as artists' books that explore the subject of the urban environment. She employs media-generated representations of contemporary and historic cities as raw material for aesthetic and social investigations.

Solo exhibitions include Paul Kopeikin Gallery (2007), LAXArt (2007); Pace University's Digital Gallery (2005); The Laguna Art Museum (2004-05); Susanne Vielmetter Los Angeles Projects (2002); Deep River, Los Angeles (2001). Her net art projects have shown worldwide since 1997 in festivals and exhibitions such as Mundourbano, Madrid, E-Poetry Festival, Paris, Cyber Feminism, Vienna, WRO Media Art Biannual, Warsaw, File (2007); Stuttgarter Filmwinter, Stuttgart, Germany; 9th Japan Media Art Festival, Tokyo (2006); Arte Nuevo Interactive, Mexico; ACCEA, Armenia; Prog:Me, Rio de Janeiro (2005); File, Brazil; Festival du Noveau Cinema, Montreal; Siggraph, Los Angeles; International Festival of Electronic Art, Argentina; Cosign, Croatia (2004); New Forms Festival, Vancouver; Recontres Internationales, Berlin (2003); Whitney Museum Artport (2002); XXV Bienal de Sao Paulo (2002); Art Future, Taiwan (2000); Net_Condition, ZKM (1999); Film + Arch.3, Graz (1997). Her website "Ghost City" (www.ghostcity.com) begun in 1997 is an ever changing meditation on the urban environment.

"Crowds and Power" was the October 2002 portal for the Whitney Museum's artport (https://artport.whitney.org). "Disembodied Voices," 2004 (www.disembodiedvoices.com) began as an online project that was then converted into a 5 projector interactive installation. She has recently created five online projects for the Dutch Newspaper Volkskrant.

    Deborah Johnson, aka CandyStations, is a multi-disciplinary artist and designer who works as a traveling video performer and has designed visuals and sets for Sufjan Stevens, Wilco, Chocolat & Akito, Calexico, and Lambchop; when home she produces web, print, animation and video projects and has exhibited worldwide in group and solo shows. In January 2008 she collaborated with Truckstop Media's Braden King and musician Shahzad Ismaily on an installation and performance at Sundance's New Frontiers, and in August 2008 she attended the Digital Media Residency at the Atlantic Center for the Arts where she worked and performed with German audio artist Carsten Nicolai. She is a Visiting Professor at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY; work examples are available at http://www.candystations.com and additional loops at http://www.vimeo.com/candystations.

  • Jill Magid People

    Jill Magid was a resident artist at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam in 2002 and is a resident artist at Eyebeam in New York City; she is a visiting artist at Cooper Union and a lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania. Her solo exhibition Libration Point was shown at the Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam (2005); her work has appeared internationally, including Liverpool Tate during the Liverpool Biennial International '04. She won a commission from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council to produce the video L-O-V-E and resides in Brooklyn and Amsterdam.

  • Zhang Ga People

    Zhang Ga is a media artist and co-director of agent.netart who has exhibited internationally and who has curated exhibitions, organized conferences and digital salons. He initiated and directs the Millennium Dialogue: Beijing International New Media Arts Exhibition and Symposium and served on the curatorial committee of ISEA2006. He has taught at Parsons, joined the New York Institute of Technology as associate professor of communication arts, and studied at the Central School of Fine Arts in Beijing and the University of Arts in Berlin (UDK), holding an MFA from Parsons School of Design.

  • Kristin Tripp People

    Kristin Tripp is a video and multimedia artist and photographer with a sustained exhibition record including Moving Image at Anthology Film Archives (2000), shows at Artists Space and A.I.R. Gallery (1998), and exhibitions at the Bronx Museum and 500X in Dallas (1996–1991). She lectured in Video and AVID editing at Maryland Institute, New School, and Ramapo College (1998–2001) and worked as an AVID systems analyst, senior system analyst and freelance videographer/editor (1991–2000). Her honors include an Artist Studio Fellowship from Bronx Council on the Arts (1997–98), Artist in the Marketplace (1995–96) and residencies at the Experimental Television Center (1994–98); selected works include Rapuznel's Revenge (1998–99), Surface Tension (1997–98) and Essential Natures (1993); she holds an MFA from SVA (1993) and a BFA from University of North Texas (1990).
