Joseph Reinsel

Joe Reinsel has composed digital audio-visual works of art that have been shown and performed in England, Scotland, Los Angeles, New York, Boston, Baltimore, and other venues on the east coast. Reinsel's pieces involve live improvised audio and video (MAX/MSP/Jitter, NATO) using selected samples taken from field recordings. His last few compositions have been personal reflections on the precariousness of nature.

Reinsel has an M.F.A. in Electronic Arts from iEAR Studios, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an M.A. in Music composition and Music technology from Radford University. Along with his own creative work he has collaborated with Jin Hi Kim, Bay Atlantic Symphony, Leroy Jenkins, Mary Griffin, McLean Mix, Johns Hopkins Symphony, Elizabeth Streb, and Ralf Nunn. He is Digital Audio Specialist at the Brown Foundation Digital Media Center at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, where he teaches workshops in digital media.

    Jonathan Zalben is an artist-composer working at the intersection of interactive art and music composition; he designs pieces that combine live instruments and recorded sound so the audience functions as performer. He holds a BA in Music from Yale and an MA in music composition and multimedia from New York University and studied at Juilliard Pre-College; he has received grants from organizations including Experimental TV Center and ASCAP. He was a 2000 research fellow at Argonne National Laboratory, in 2003 was in residence at STEIM, and his Compound Pilot collaboration won the Classic Web Award at SXSW 2006.

    Jeremy D. Slater is a sound artist who also works with video and sound in performance and installation settings; he uses his laptop computer to create sound, image, and interactive work.     R. Luke DuBois is a composer, programmer, and video artist based in New York City; he holds a doctorate in music composition from Columbia University and teaches interactive sound and video performance at Columbia's Computer Music Center, New York University, and the School of Visual Arts. He has done interactive programming and music production for many artists, most recently Toni Dove, Chris Mann, Elliott Sharp, and Michael Gordon, and served as a staff programming consultant for Engine27 during the 2003 season. He is co-author of Jitter, a software suite developed by Cycling'74 for real-time manipulation of matrix data; his music with his band the Freight Elevator Quartet is available on Caipirinha/Sire and Cycling'74 music.
