Judith Barry is an author, artist, writer and designer whose multidisciplinary approach often foregrounds the complex relationships between architecture, film and video and other media. She works in a variety of media including video, sculpture, photography, performance, and theater. Her installations have been exhibited worldwide including the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, the University Art Museum, Berkeley, the Whitney Biennial, the Venice Biennale, the Institute of Contemporary Art, London, and Centre Pompidou, Paris. Her writing has been published in Blasted Allegories, edited by Brian Wallis; Video by Artists II, edited by Elke Towne; The Un/Necessary Image, edited by Antonio Muntadas and Peter d'Agostino; Discourse, and Screen, as well as in numerous catalogs. She has exhibited internationally at such venues as the Venice Biennale of Art/Architecture, Sao Paolo Biennale, Nagoya Bienale, Cairo Biennale, Carnegie International, Whitney Biennale, Austrailian Biennale, among others. In 2000 she won the Kiesler Prize for Architecture and the Arts and in 2001 she was awarded Best Pavilion and Audience Award at the Cairo Biennale.
