Karen Brummund

Karen Brummund is a visual artist who works with ideas about drawing, time, and space. Like her work with Pezo von Ellrichsausen Architects in Chile, Brummund creates time-based drawings of architecture. Photocopies, drawings, or videos of the building cover the building itself. Each public installation inspires a new dialogue about the place, its history and representation.

Brummund's commissions include Atlanta Celebrates Photography, the Sirius Art Centre in Ireland, the Brady Centre in London, and Burchfield-Penney in Buffalo. Each project includes public, participatory, and studio based artworks. Photographs and videos of her public installations have shown in venues like the Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester (2010), The Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse (2008), and the East End Film Festival in London (2007). She received her Masters of Arts in Fine Arts from the University of East London and is a 2010 New York Foundation for the Arts Fellow in Architecture and Environmental Structures.

    Kathleen Ruiz is a media artist and Associate Professor of Integrated Arts at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute who creates simulations, games, sculpture and photography; her work investigates perception, behavior, interaction, simulation, perspective and empathy. She holds a Master of Arts from New York University and is a doctoral candidate (abd) at the European Graduate School. She has received awards and commissions from the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation and New York City and State arts agencies; her work was sponsored by Sony Computer Entertainment in Europe and has been exhibited and reviewed internationally.

    Carol Stakenas is Deputy Director and Curator of Creative Time, New York City's multidisciplinary public arts presenter; she curated and produced public art at the Brooklyn Bridge Anchorage, Times Square and Grand Central Terminal. She created and co-chaired the international seminar Blur 02 Power at Play in Digital Art and Culture and spearheads Creative Time's CyberWide initiative. She served as web advisor to School's OUT: The Naming Project, curated Lo-Fi Baroque at Thread Waxing Space and serves on the boards of the National Association of Artists Organizations (NAAO) and Conjunction Arts.

    Christa Erickson is Assistant Professor of Art at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where she teaches electronic media arts; she is an interdisciplinary artist investigating spaces mediated by electronic technologies and producing installations that combine digital media, sculpture, video, performance, and the internet. Her works have been exhibited in New York City, at InSITE `94, the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis and the Banff Center for the Arts; she holds an MFA from the University of California, San Diego and two bachelor's degrees from the University of Texas, Austin.

    Suzanne Goldenberg holds a BA from Mc Gill University and an MFA from Maryland Institute College of Art; she is presently working on the production and design for a quarterly online contemporary arts journal and at Harvestworks. Her exhibitions have included the Great Hall of Art (NY), Kibla Media Center (Slovenia), Gallery Remont (Yugoslovia), MaMa Media Center (Croatia), Jeleni Gallery (Czech Republic) and galleries in NY and Baltimore. She received a Gottleib Foundation Artist Grant (2003) and support from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (2003).

    Ericka Beckman holds a B.F.A. from Washington University and an M.F.A. from California Institute of the Arts; her recent exhibitions include TODI Cinema (Budapest), Rotterdam Film Festival, NGBK (Berlin), Stockholm International Film Festival, Montreal International Festival of New Media and Cinema, L'Alternativa Festival (Barcelona), Viper Festival (Lucerne), Museum of Modern Art (New York), Art Institute of Chicago, University of Southern California, BAM Music Hall (Brooklyn, NY) and Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. Her listed publications include Artist Space: 20 Years (edited by Valarie Smith, MIT Press), Processed Lives, Gender and Technology in Everyday Life (edited by Jennifer Terry & Melodie Calvert, Routledge Press) and Forest of Signs: Art in the Crisis of Representation.
