Ken Montgomery and Andrea Beeman

Since the early 1980s, Gen Ken Montgomery has been finding novel ways to work with sound, and to deliver it to a public in compelling ways: from doing sound performances in the darkness, to setting up octophonic audio installations, to enhancing the sounds of machinery whose primary function is unrelated to the sounds they produce.

He is the founder of Generator, originally a sound gallery and performance space, and now a label and a platform for sound artists to produce their projects. https://www.generatorsoundart.org/ www.MinistryofLamination.com.

His work employs welded steel resonators, stainless steel rods, aluminum plates and spectrographic images of architectural sounds.

  • David Lee Myers People

    David Lee Myers is a New York sound and visual artist who has produced feedback-based music since 1987 using custom "feedback machines"; as Arcane Device and under his own name he has released twenty recordings on labels including Generator and ReR. A fourth collaboration with Hamburg's Asmus Tietchens was scheduled for February 2004 on the Line label; projects include work with Tod Dockstader. He developed prints and paintings from traces of his sounds, exhibited in New York, and in 2001 began producing oscilloscope-based images from his Feedback Music.

  • Ron Kuivila People

    Ron Kuivila is an artist and composer who pioneered the use of ultrasound and sound sampling in live performance; his recent work explores compositional algorithms, speech synthesis and high voltage phenomena. He has collaborated with composers, artists and choreographers and has performed and exhibited installations and concerts throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe. He studied with Alvin Lucier at Wesleyan and with Robert Ashley and David Behrman at Mills College; he was an NEA Fellow at Creative Associates, artist-in-residence at Media Study/Buffalo (1979-80), a 1980 CAPS recipient, and is a Professor of Musicology at Wesleyan who curated Rock's Role (After Ryoanji) at Art in General in 2004.
