Kristen Anchor is a Baltimore media artist, curator, and teacher. In 1990 she graduated from the International Bartending Institute, with honors, tying the school record for accurately mixing the most drinks during final exam. She received her first undergraduate degree from James Madison University in Sociology and then moved to Baltimore to work as a community organizer. Since then, she received her second undergraduate degree in Film from the University of Maryland. Her films have been screened on Maryland Public Television's Independent Eye, at the Maryland Film Festival, The Seattle Underground Film Festival, Mix's New York Gay and Lesbian Experimental Film Festival, Crash Test Videos (winner, most expressive film), International Working Class Film and Video Festival (San Francisco, CA), and the Green Reel Festival (Los Angeles, CA). She takes great pride in the number of part time and temporary jobs she has accumulated over the years, which have included assisting the editor of A Documentary History of Affirmative Action by JoAnn Robinson, interning at Franklin Furnace Archives, assisting filmmaker Lynne Sachs, and running the video program at Maine Teen Camp. She has received awards for her video work, and teaches video and computer skills at Wide Angle Community Media and the South East Youth Academy, and is the Coordinator of the Movie Makers program at the Creative Alliance, a non-profit arts center. She has curated and toured a film program Baltimore Because around the US. She is presently developing a production teen mentoring program.
