Lana Caplan

Lana Z Caplan is a Boston-based film/videomaker, photographer and installation artist. She works with super8, found footage, video, interactive projections, and alternative processes photography in her pieces that explore relationships, mortality and social issues. Recent screenings and exhibitions include: MadCat Women's International Film Festival (San Francisco, CA), "FICCO"(Festival Internacional de Cine Contempor·neo), Museo Tamayo Arte Contempor·neo, (Mexico City); Festival Cap Sembrat 3, (Barcelona, Spain); Danforth Museum of Art, (MA); Gallery NAGA, (Boston, MA); John Stevenson Gallery, (NY, NY); Photographic Resource Center, (Boston, MA); William Benton Museum of Art, (Storrs, CT).

Recent grants and awards include: Puffin Foundation, Individual Artist Grant; Massachusetts Cultural Council, Professional Development Grant; Massachusetts College of Art, International Programs Travel Grant; Vermont Studio Center, Artist-in-Residence, Artist Grant; Contemporary Artist Center, North Adams, MA; Polaroid Corporation, Materials Grant. She earned a B.A. from Boston University and an M.F.A. from Massachusetts College of Art. Caplan also teaches at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, MA.

  • Aysha Quinn People

    Aysha Quinn is a multi-genre artist in modeling, acting, video and performance art; in the late 1960s she modeled in New York City and in 1968 moved to Los Angeles, buying a black-and-white 1/2" reel-to-reel video portapak. She entered video art in 1975, helped establish the Utah Media Center while in Park City, Utah (1979–1983) and supported the U.S. Film & Video Festival (now Sundance), had a retrospective at VideoBrasil in Sao Paulo in 1989, and continues work on Native American issues and children's rights while residing in New York City.

  • Zoe Beloff People

    Zoe Beloff is a moving-image artist working in film, stereoscopic projection performance, interactive media and installation; her projects are described as philosophical toys and increasingly address phantoms and cinematic illusionism. Raised in Edinburgh, she studied painting and art history at Edinburgh University and College of Art and moved to New York in 1980 to receive an MFA in Film from Columbia University. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including MoMA, the Whitney Museum (2002 Biennial), New York Film Festival, Rotterdam, Pacific Film Archives and the Pompidou; she collaborated with John Cale and the Wooster Group, received awards from the Experimental Television Center and teaches at City College and the College of Staten Island.

    Courtney Rile is an artist, curator and arts coordinator based in Syracuse, NY; her video art has been shown internationally and locally, including the first Syracuse International Film and Video Festival. In 2005 she curated the moving-images program Videohm at an upscale lounge and bar in Syracuse, presenting nearly 300 hours of international experimental film and video and VJ work; she also coordinated the exhibition Clement Greenberg In Syracuse: Then & Now at ThINC's Company Gallery that year. She is Gallery Coordinator at Delavan Art Gallery and holds an A.A. in TV/Radio/Film from Montgomery County Community College, PA, and a B.F.A. in Video Art from Syracuse University, NY.
