For the past decade, I have been working in media arts, sound, installation and film as both an artist and a teacher. In 1999, I graduated from NYU's Gallatin school where I received an MA in Video Art & Performance. I am currently the Chief Video Engineer at Harvestworks Media Arts Center and have worked on projects with artists from a wide array of disciplines such as Cai Guo-Qiang, Richard Foreman, The Wooster Group, and Christian Marclay. I teach video production, editing and media theory at The New School, the International Center of Photography, Pratt Institute and have been a guest lecturer at Bard College. Throughout my creative career, I have been seeking evocative and poetic combinations of video, film, audio and performance to create multiple-channel installations as well as single-channel pieces. I have created ten multiple-channel video/sound installations, numerous single channel works (including collaborating on a feature-length documentary featuring The Wooster Group), as well as interactive video scores to accompany live dance, theater, music and performance. My work has been exhibited in diverse locations in New York and internationally including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Brooklyn Museum, The Chelsea Art Museum, Ocularis @ Galapagos, the Museo Nacional in Havana, Cuba, and was screened on PBS's Reel New York. In 2007, I exhibited a new video/sound installation at 3rd Ward, Brooklyn, a variety of works at the Tokyo Wonder Site in Japan, and was included in the Sadho Film Festival in India. In 2008, I was commissioned by the Brooklyn Arts Council to make a new multimedia installation that was exhibited as a solo gallery show in D.U.M.B.O and participated in the Diversions Film Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. This year, I completed a new installation project called Revolving Twilight, which debuted as a large-scale media installation at the Chocolate Factory in New York, created a video and live performance installation for Avant-Garde-Arama! at PS122, curated by The Wooster Group, as well as a new multiple-channel video project for the gallery space at HERE Arts Center. Currently, I have two video/sound/object installations on view in an abandoned building on Governors Island as part of the 3rd Annual Governors Island Art Fair. I have actively collaborated with theater and dance companies, designing interactive video to accompany live performance. I worked on The Wooster Group's Hamlet, contributing images and ideas to the video score, which has played at St. Ann 's Warehouse (2007), The Public Theater (2007) and numerous international venues including the Pompidou Center, Paris (2006). I also created video for Lenora Champagne's play Traces/Fades, seen at 3LD (2006) and at the Ice Factory Festival (2008). I designed video for choreographer Francesca Harper for performances at the Holland Dance Festival (2007), Harlem Stage (2008) and a large-scale video piece for the Venice Biennale (2008). In addition, in 2008, I created a video score for 00:07, a play by theater artist Yehuda Duenyas based on Malcolm Gladwell's book Blink. I recently designed video environments for Ex.P Girl's Paris Syndrome, which opened at HERE Theater in summer 2010 and Roadkill Confidential playing at 3LD in September 2010. Throughout my career I have received numerous awards in support of my work including two New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowships in Video, grants from The Greenwall Foundation, The New York State Council on the Arts, the Jerome Foundation, The Experimental TV Center, The Asian Cultural Council and the NEA. I have received residency fellowships from The MacDowell Colony and Yaddo and was a visiting artists at the Tokyo Wonder Site, Japan. http://www.automaticrelease.org
