MONA JIMENEZ is an artist and media arts consultant. She served as Executive Director of Media Alliance (1993-96) and as Director of Independent Media Arts Preservation (1996-2001). She served on the AMIA Committee on US National Preservation Plans, representing groups with independent media collections. In her media arts practice, she assists non-profits with their Internet, multimedia and video projects. Past projects include training art teachers to incorporate the Internet, program development for circuite@nys, The Governor's Conference on Art and Technology, and assisting public television station WNET/Thirteen to create a tape archive. She was the recipient of an Artist Fellowship in Computer Arts from the New York Foundation for the Arts in 1998. With Liss Platt, she co-edited Magnetic Media Preservation Sourcebook, published by Media Alliance. She worked with Bay Area Video Coalition to coordinate TechArcheology: A Symposium on Installation Art Preservation. She has partnered with the Experimental Television Center organizing two conferences, Video History: Making Connections (Syracuse University, 1998) and Looking Back/Looking Forward (NYC, 2002). She has provided preservation consultant services to organizations throughout the country. Jimenez was Researcher-in-Residence, Daniel Langlois Foundation for Art, Science and Technology, 2003.She is presently Assistant Professor, Moving Image Preservation Specialist in Cinema Studies at NYU. 1996 - Media Consultant, Materia Media. Training and consulting for groups present and individuals engaged with electronic media: video, multimedia and/or Internet projects. Recent preservation clients include: Independent Media Arts Preservation - organizational development, programmatic development and fundraising for a national consortium focused on the preservation of independent media. Experimental Television Center - information architecture, design, and content development for the Video History Project web site; planning and program development for the 1998 conference "Video History: Making Connections." Bay Area Video Coalition - fundraising, coordination and documentation of "TechArcheology: A Symposium on Installation Art Preservation." WNET/Thirteen - assessment of videotape holdings and development of the station's first media archive. Media Alliance - coordination of regional video preservation activities; co-editor of the "Magnetic Media Preservation Sourcebook." 1993 - 1996 Executive Director, Media Alliance, New York, New York. Management of a statewide arts organization focused on advancing the media arts - film, video, computers, audio and related electronic arts. Programs included a Media Arts Fellowship Program for emerging artists, Media Action Grants to rural groups, and a Video Preservation Initiative to preserve early video art. 1991-1993 Media Center Coordinator, Visual Studies Workshop, Rochester, New York. Administrative, curatorial and teaching duties in a non-profit media arts center.
