• Beth Berolzheimer People

  Beth Berolzheimer is a Chicago-based media artist and activist who produces videos, photographs and multimedia installations; her thirty-year career engages early European filmmaking, documentary and narrative film theory, art history, feminist and semiotic ideologies and a personal post-colonial critique. She was a ten-year member of Women In The Director's Chair and collaborated with Beyondmedia on videotapes about battered women and the NGO Forum for Women in China and documented post-glasnost rebuilding by Jewish women in Russia and the Ukraine. She introduced the first Avid digital non-linear editing systems to Columbia College Film/Video in 1993, is an Avid Certified Instructor and has taught at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Columbia College.

  Deborah Stratman was Adjunct Assistant Professor of Film, Video, and New Media (1998) at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago; she holds a BFA (1990) from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and an MFA in Film/Video (1995) from the California Institute of the Arts. Her work has been exhibited at Temporary Services Gallery (Chicago), Para/Site Gallery (Hong Kong), the Latvian Museum of Foreign Art (Riga) and Smioagalleri (Reykjavik), and screened at San Francisco Cinematheque, Rotterdam, Sundance, Viennale 2002, L'Alternativa (Barcelona) and CinemaTexas. Awards and support include the Center For Land Use Interpretation (Wendover, UT), Wexner Center for the Arts (OH), Danish Film Institute Workshop (Copenhagen), Illinois Arts Council Artist's Fellowships, the Gecko Award (CinemaTexas), THAW Best of Festival and CUFF Best Experimental Film.

• Joan Braderman People

  Joan Braderman is an award-winning video artist, writer and producer born in Washington, DC, educated at Harvard and New York University; she studied 16mm filmmaking and learned black-and-white reel-to-reel video in New York City in the 1970s. She produced documentaries and video art including FOR A BICENTENNIAL WITHOUT COLONIES (1977), THE PEOPLES' CONVENTION, SOUTH BRONX (1980), NATALIE DIDN'T DROWN (1983), JOAN DOES DYNASTY (1986) and NO MORE NICE GIRLS (1989); JDD was included in the 1987 Whitney Biennial. Her work is held by the Stedelijk, Centre Pompidou and MoMA; grants include NEA, state arts councils, AFI, NYFA, Jerome and MacArthur, and she has taught at SVA, Boston Museum School, the London Institute and Universidade Catolica Portuguesa (Fulbright Distinguished Chair, 2002).
