Nhieu Do

Nhieu Do studies Film/Video at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia during 2002-04, and is inspired to create movies that experiment with perception.

Using the camera to explore different ways of looking at things whether it is a person, a place, an object, or a theme in order to transcend the ordinary into something beyond and hopefully will gain an idea of how the mind perceive the outside world.

  • Andrew Demirjian People

    Andrew Demirjian makes films described as sonic and visual tapestries that track how perception, categorization and meaning are assigned in a culture of sensory overload; the videos render interior thought processes using text, art history, pop culture and music as a referential landscape shaped by digital tools. He resists being limited to the conventional video format and conceives many works as immersive experiences in the form of large-scale installations and live performance. The videos are short, employ quick editing, are often humorous, and emphasize sound and text to challenge the traditional dominance of the visual in the film medium.

  • Van Dousmanis People

    Evangelos Dousmanis recounts early training in darkroom mechanics from his grandfather and visual/social instruction from his mother, and studied under Cinema Chair Ralph Hocking at Binghamton University; he emphasizes photography as a communicative and semiotic tool. After 20 years as a photojournalist he documented the campus and its students with camera, noting the shift from chemical darkroom processes to digital imaging and asserting a responsibility to the viewer. The work appears in the book and exhibition Beyond the Lens at Binghamton University, 2004, and includes acknowledgements to numerous university staff.

  • Bradley Eros People

    Bradley Eros worked for 20 plus years in the New York/East Village experimental film demi-monde; he initiated, exhibited and curated at micro-cinemas, clubs, galleries, storefronts and festivals, including ABC No Rio, Naked Eye Cinema, Film Crash and Ocularis. His work was shown and curated with institutions such as the Whitney Museum, MoMA, Exit Art, the Kitchen, Millennium, Collective for Living Cinema, Anthology Film Archives and Robert Beck Memorial Cinema at Collective Unconscious. He collaborated with Aline Mare (Erotic Psyche), Jeanne Liotta (Mediamystics) and kinoSonik, produced dozens of 'zines, posters, soundtracks and film performances, and participated in the Experimental Television Center Residency Program, receiving Finishing Funds from ETC.

  • Pierre Desir People

    Pierre Desir is a Professor at Emerson University and an award-winning cinematographer and filmmaker; he taught most recently at Ithaca College. His feature film Zona screened at the Athens, Chicago Underground, Pan African and Ohio Independent film festivals. He holds an M.A. in African studies and an M.F.A. in motion picture/television production from the University of California at Los Angeles.

    Doron Golan, born in Israel and living and working in New York, works in digital video, computer animation and media; his movies are documentary films engaged in the process-making of cinema verité and his practice concerns the aesthetics of the motion-picture through use of digital video codec and streaming facilities.
