Nick Ray was visiting film professor. Produced sections of film, originally titled "Gun Under My Pillow" (later titled We Can't Go Home Again) at Experimental Television Center with Ralph Hocking, using Video Synthesizer to break up film image plane into multiple image sources.

Summary

Nicholas Ray, film director, was at the Cinema Department, Binghamton University (1971–1973) as a visiting film professor.   • Nicholas Ray People

    Nicholas Ray (born Raymond Nicholas Kienzle Jr.) was an American film director whose key 1949–1956 films included They Live By Night, In a Lonely Place, Johnny Guitar, and Rebel Without a Cause; he worked at RKO (protected by Howard Hughes) and later directed epics including King of Kings and began 55 Days at Peking before a 1963 heart attack curtailed his mainstream career. From 1971–1973 he taught filmmaking at Harpur College (SUNY Binghamton), where he and students produced the autobiographical We Can’t Go Home Again using multiple superimpositions and a synthesizer; an early cut screened at Cannes in 1973. He died of lung cancer on June 16, 1979 in New York City at age 67.
