Not Still Art Festival 2000, held at the MicroMuseum, Brooklyn, NY, April 29, 2000.

Not Still Art included a curated screening of works, a historical retrospective of works by Jud Yalkut, Carol Goss, Bill Etra, Shalom Gorewitz, Reynold Weidenaar and Mary Ross, created on a Paik/Abe Video Synthesizer and live performances by Carol Goss, Vanessa Bley, Hayes Greenfield, William Laziza, Mick Fortunato, Curtis Bahn, Dan Trueman, Walter Wright and Zipperspy aka Maria Moran.

    Carol Goss and Walter Wright, pioneers of live video performance, were interviewed by Benton Bainbridge at the Not Still Art Festival in Cooperstown, NY on April 25, 1998. Both developed realtime collaborative video at the Experimental Television Center in the early 1970s (Wright was Artist in Residence, second ever, 1972) and described performances such as Axis in Soho with Sun Ra, equipment including the Paik/Abe, David Jones Colorizer, Live! Board, oscillators, Serge modules and Sandin Image Processor, and touring, residencies and workshop practices.

  • Carol Goss People

    Carol Goss made video art at the Experimental Television Center and performed live video synthesis in New York City and San Francisco in the 1970s; Nam June Paik sent her to the Experimental Television Center in 1974 and she co-founded Improvising Artists Records & Video with Paul Bley that year. Her analog program TOPOGRAPHY was exhibited at the Everson Museum in 1976; her practice evolved into digital work in the 1980s and she founded the Not Still Art Festival in 1996 in the Cooperstown region with support from the New York State Council on the Arts and Media Alliance. She has exhibited internationally and lectured at Columbia University, Selcuk Universitesi and the Bunting Institute at Radcliffe/Harvard.
