The NV 3020 is an EIAJ #1 black and white standard video recorder in portable case; the unit offered lever control, AGC on audio and video, audio dubbing, automatic end of tape shutoff. It has provisions for input from a camera via a PL-239 jack or a TV receiver / monitor via an EIAJ 8 pin connector. Outputs are by way of the 8 pin jack, a PL-239 jack or with an optional RF adapter. Two AC utility outlets, one switched, one unswitched are also provided for powering the camera and monitor.

The Panasonic NV-3020 is a newly designed 1/2" video tape recorder with many attractive features. The new rotary head drive system and the motor standby circuit create choice performance. Complete solid state for maximum reliability. The NV-3020 is equipped with the unique Hot Pressed Ferrite heads for excellent performance and durability. Easy-to-operate controls include automatic video and audio recording controls and simple lever operation. The Hot Pressed Ferrite heads, coupled with the new rotary head drive system and the motor standby circuit, enable the all solid state NV-3020SD to show fine picture detail. The outstanding performance features of instant still framing and audio dubbing add to many other versatile performance capabilities. Playback on a conventional television and/or extra monitor television is possible. Easy-to-operate controls, with the Automatic Gain Control to maintain constant video and audio recording levels, make the Panasonic NV-3020SD the handiest 1/2" video tape recorder.
