    Owen Shapiro directs the Film Program in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University and founded the Syracuse International Film and Video Festival (SIFVF), serving as its artistic director with executive director Christine Fawcett Shapiro. He has led the program since 1973, designed the B.F.A. and M.F.A. curricula and film facilities in the Shaffer Art Building, and has made over 30 films and a dozen videos. His work received a 1976 retrospective at the Cinematheque Francaise in Paris and a 1987 Fulbright Fellowship to teach at Tel-Aviv University.

    Nam June Paik is presented as a seminal figure in the emergence of video art; he experimented with television in Germany and Japan, moved to New York in 1964, and with Shuya Abe developed the Video Synthesizer in 1970, producing works such as the T. V. Chair and the Television Bra. The text surveys artists working in video—Keith Sonnier, Linda Benglis, Joan Jonas, Nancy Holt, William Wegman, Michael Snow, Bruce Nauman, Peter Campus and George Boiling—and documents practices using portable videotape recorders, live feedback, colorization and synthesized color, video environments, and independent video groups and cable/public-access distribution.

    Judge K, A.K.A. George Kindel, is an eight-year veteran of the TV commercial industry who became an experimental video maker; he was formerly a producer at Backstreet Productions in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and is currently Technical Director at Squeaky Wheel overseeing G4 edit suites and equipment rentals. As an instructor he has taught DIY DJing/History of the Jamaican Sound System and Live Video Documentation and has participated in long-term media installations at Artist & Models XX; he is a member of http://deepsoulplug.net/. He has served as technical assistant to Diane Bonder, Erica Eaton, Ron Emcke, Kelly Spivey and Astria Suparak and has performed at alternative art spaces in Western New York.
