Abstract

"Interactive narrative did not begin in cyberspace. It has deep, tangled roots in an array of earlier forms. But the new electronic media provokes us to reconceptualize these two concepts--narrative and interactivity--their distinctive functions and pleasures, and their complex relations with history and subjectivity." With that began the opening remarks given by Marsha Kinder, co-organizer of "Interactive Frictions: At The Pressure Point Between Theory & Practice" and professor of Critical Studies at the University of Southern California (USC) School of Cinema-Television.http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m2479/is_2_27/ai_59586974
