Renate Ferro

http://www.renateferro.net Renate Ferro is a visiting assistant professor in the Department of Art at Cornell University. She received her M.F.A. in new media from Cornell University in 2004 after working as a freelance artist for over 20 years, where her creative process and art practice centered on drawing, painting, and printmaking. Her current installations incorporate projection, digital video, sound, and motion sensors.

Her work is represented in both corporate and private collections across the United States, as well as in Canada, France, Germany, and Australia. Her artwork has been published in such journals as Diacritics, Theatre Journal, and Epoch. She currently serves as art editor of the journal Diacritics, published by the Johns Hopkins University Press.

Her installations reinvent memory through a digital translation into new media experiences. Her installations include Mining Memory: The Virtual Trunk, Mining Memory: The Cabinet, Anamnesis, and Screen Memory. She has participated in the Artists in Residence Program at the Experimental Television Center and is on the Board of the Rose Goldsen Archive of New Media.

    Suzanne Goldenberg holds a BA from Mc Gill University and an MFA from Maryland Institute College of Art; she is presently working on the production and design for a quarterly online contemporary arts journal and at Harvestworks.     Mary Magsamen and Stephan Hillerbrand are multi-media artists, curators and new media activists who have collaborated for five years and been exhibited nationally and internationally. Hillerbrand has received National Endowment for the Arts and Art Matters grants; Magsamen has received the Longwood Cyber Residency; both hold Masters degrees from Cranbrook Academy of Art and were awarded the 2003 Lower Manhattan Cultural Centers Artist-in-Residence Workspace Program at the Woolworth Building for their collaborative project Das Angstbauen. Their artist statement cites fantasy, role-playing and self-portraiture and a stream-of-consciousness method using digital image acquisition and manipulation to create video work.
