RISK/RIESGO is an exchange between U.S. and Mexican media artists in the form of writings and graphic works. As the first bilingual (Spanish/English) issue of FELIX, RISK/RIESGO explores the political, the transgressive, the risk of making works described by artists living in Mexico and the US. RISK DVD is a compilation of video shorts by Mexican and U.S. artists who participated in the book project RISK/RIESGO. The works relate to the theme of risk - embodying a transgression, a gamble, a danger, a possibility. Contributors include from Mexico Miguel Calderon, Silvia Gruner, Ricardo Nicolayevsky (interview w/Rita Gonzalez), Mariana Botey, and artists like Miranda July, Alex Rivera, RT Mark, Shelly Silver, Barbara Hammer and POCHO from the States. RISK/RIESGO continued the cross border dialogue that was developed with VOYEURISM. These ambitious issues incorporated a significant international element, with guest editors from Canada and Mexico, and articles and artist pages from Canadian/Mexico artists comprising a significant portion of the issues. The inclusion of a diverse group of artists broadens the dialogue between media arts communities in our countries, leading to new exchanges between Canadian and Mexican and U.S. artists, as well as between cultural and educational institutions. RISK/RIESGO was released in 2003/04 with accompanying DVD, and received international support including funding from the Andy Warhol Foundation, NYSCA, and from Fideicomiso para la Cultura M?xico-EUA, and Patronato de Arte Contempor?neo.)
