Roger Wyatt

Roger B. Wyatt, Ed. D., is a filmmaker, media artist, information scientist, and historian. He has been involved with filmmaking and digital media for over 20 years. He is the co-author with Brian O'Connor of the forthcoming book Photo Provocations. Roger Wyatt oversaw the film project documenting the restoration of the Statue Liberty during the early 1980s.

He has written extensively for Videomaker, Smart TV, and other publications. He has extensive experience with streaming media. And he has substantial experience developing and implementing virtual events, classes and workshops online. https://tech-head.com

    Hank Linhart is a video documentarian and chairs Media Arts at Pratt Institute; he is a former Brooklyn waterfront activist and producer of video documentaries and video art. He holds a B.A. (Roanoke College), a B.F.A. (SUNY Fredonia) and an M.A.H. (SUNY Buffalo). He received NYSCA Grants (1985, 1990) and New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowships (1983, 1989); his work was exhibited at the Whitney Museum of American Art, The Kitchen, The American Center in Paris and on PBS; he was artist in residence at the Experimental Television Center.

  • Video Preservation: Securing the Future of the Past Preservation

    Media Alliance launched a video preservation initiative in 1991 and, in partnership with the New York State Council on the Arts, convened a symposium at the Museum of Modern Art on June 14, 1991; over 60 participants from as far as San Francisco and Toronto attended and MoMA sponsored an evening screening organized by Barbara London and Sally Berger. Presenters included Elizabeth Scheines, Leanne Mella, Mark Schubin, David Shulman and Deborah Silverfine; topics covered collection assessment, cataloging (MARC and NAMID), conservation technology, cleaning methods, formats and remastering costs. Media Alliance surveyed over 200 people and solicited funding support from NYSCA, NEA, NAMAC, CCUMC, the Benton Foundation and BAVC; Deirdre Boyle authored the report and Mary Esbjornson served as Executive Director and Project Director of the Video Preservation Initiative.

    John Hanhardt is curator of film and video at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City; he integrated video into the Whitney’s exhibition program and curated the Nam June Paik retrospective in 1982. Trained at NYU with a MoMA internship, he became Whitney department head in 1974 after serving at the Walker Art Center; he organized Projected Video (1975) and Re-Vision (1979) and placed video in Biennials from 1973. He secured Rockefeller Foundation funding to equip the theater, is writing Expanded Form in Film and Video (due spring 1983), and pursued touring and distribution via the AFA.
