Roxanne Wolanczyk

Roxanne Wolanczyk (born 1971, New York) is a visual artist whose work is conceptual in basis, self-exploratory in content and multi-disciplinary in form.

She states: "I employ a wide range of media, each chosen for its appropriateness in expressing a particular idea. To convey sorrow, I alternately embroidered handkerchiefs, cast a life size (life-cast) fountain of myself that cries and scientifically graphed the molecular weight of my tears."     Vanessa Lauria is an artist from upstate New York who grew up in Buffalo, attended Syracuse University and lives in Rochester; she majored in illustration. She experimented with fibers as a medium, drawing with a needle and sewing machine and painting with fabric patterns and textures, and after exposure to avant-garde cinema by Maya Deren and Jan Svankmajer she produced several animation projects. She uses rotoscoping to alter video frames by hand and works in cross-stitch, embroidery and appliqué; she received a Finishing Funds 2006 award from the Experimental Television Center.

    Laurie Beth Clark was raised in New York City and holds a B.A., an M.A. in Visual Arts and an M.F.A.; since 1985 she has lived in Madison, Wisconsin, where she teaches Installation and Video and has held administrative roles. Her multidisciplinary practice uses video, performance, installation and multimedia to examine social issues; projects in Germany consider the holocaust and other genocides, and she is developing international research on trauma memorials and shopping environments. She received fellowships from Jerome and McKnight and published in anthologies such as A Performance Cosmology (Routledge, 2006).

    Necole Zayatz is an interdisciplinary artist working in printmaking, painting and writing; she focuses on psychological dissemination through voice and video and has increasingly incorporated sensors into performance. She now works primarily in video and engages with performance and both verbal and non-verbal language.     Joanna Raczynska is a curator, writer and film/video maker who has made short non-fiction films and videos since 1997 and worked in arts administration for over a decade; she earned a Masters degree in Documentary by Practice with merit at the University of London, Royal Holloway College in 2001. She collaborated on projects and exhibitions with composer Will Redman and Termite TV; her work has been screened internationally and in the US, and since September 2002 she has been Media Arts Director at Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center in Buffalo, NY.
