The International Agency for Minority Artist Affairs - A Brief History Groups
IAMAA was founded in 1978 by Gregory Javan Mills and is a New York State nonprofit with 501(c)(3) status; it was designated the Harlem Art Council in 1996. The agency ran arts training programs in Harlem/Upper Manhattan, received MacArthur Foundation grants (1995–96) to create the Harlem Media Center, partnered with Manhattan Neighborhood Network from 1997 to teach public-access TV, and donated over 30 personal computer systems and over 10 video cameras to community groups and trainees.
