Shelley Jackson

Shelley Jackson is the author of the short story collection The Melancholy of Anatomy (Anchor 2002), the groundbreaking hypertext novel Patchwork Girl (Eastgate 1995) and other electronic media works, and several children's books with her own illustrations. Her writing has appeared in many journals including The Paris Review, Grand Street, Conjunctions, Fence, and the Mississippi Review, and has won a Pushcart Prize; art projects have appeared in Cabinet Magazine and many exhibitions and conferences devoted to new media art. The Doll Games, a multimedia project, is a collaboration with her sister Pamela Jackson.

    Yvonne Rainer, born San Francisco 1934, trained in New York from 1957 and began choreographing in 1960; she co-founded the Judson Dance Theater in 1962. Notable dances include Terrain (1963), The Mind is a Muscle (1968), Continuous Project-Altered Daily (1969–70) and This is the story of a woman who... (1973), and After Many a Summer Dies the Swan (2000, Baryshnikov commission). Since 1972 she has completed seven feature films addressing social and aesthetic issues; Privilege (1990) and MURDER and murder (1996) won festival awards. Her book A Woman Who... was published by Johns Hopkins University Press in 1999; she received two Guggenheim Fellowships and a MacArthur Fellowship and had a 2002 exhibition at the Rosenwald-Wolf Gallery in Philadelphia.

    Judy Malloy is an electronic narrative pioneer who has written hypernarratives since 1986, beginning Uncle Roger on Arts Com Electronic Network on the WELL; her hyperfictions include its name is Penelope (1990, 1993), Forward Anywhere (with Cathy Marshall; 1996), The Roar of Destiny Emanated From the Refrigerator (1996-1998) and Sanctuary (2003). Her work has been exhibited internationally at venues including The Boston CyberArts Festival, Siggraph and Xerox PARC; her publications appear with Eastgate Systems, E.P. Dutton, St. Martin's Press and MIT Press, and she is editor of NYFA Current.
