    From the SONY AV-5000A Operating Manual, the SONY AV-5000A is a compact portable videocorder for color or monochrome television and live-action picture and sound recording for education, training and home entertainment. It uses 1/2-inch tape conforming to EIA and NTSC standards; tapes are interchangeable with other SONY AV-Series videocorders; playback ranges from still frame to less than one-third speed with skew and tracking controls. Specifications include AC 117V 60 Hz power (approx. 95 W), SONY MCR rotary two-head helical-scan FM recording, 7 1/2 ips tape speed with 60-minute V-32 tapes, weight 55 lb and basic accessories.

  • Sony AV-3400 Porta Pak Tools

    Sony AV-3400, from the 1969 Owner's Manual, is a portable record/playback Videocorder designed to operate with the Sony AVC-3400 camera and to provide immediate playback on the camera viewfinder or an external monitor. It uses a rotary two-head full-field composite video system and records 30 minutes on V-30H tape at 7 ips. Power is from a BP-20 rechargeable battery (45 minutes) or the AC-3400 adaptor; supplied accessories include AC-3400, BP-20 and VMC-1M; optional RFU-53W and RFU-54W are listed, with prices $1495 (3/1/70) and $1650 (1972).
