Stepahnie Maxwell

Stephanie Maxwell is co-founder and co-director of the ImageMovementSound festivals. She teaches film, video and animation production and history courses in the School of Film and Animation at the Rochester Institute of Technology.

She has taught, lectured and conducted workshops in many international venues, and she was recently an artist-in-residence at Unitec Institute of Technology in Auckland, New Zealand. Her unusual and award-winning animated works have exhibited in many international film and television programs and festivals, including recent retrospectives in New Zealand, the Ottawa International Animation Festival, LUX in London, and the Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles in Paris. Her works are collected by museums as works of art.

    Nancy Meli Walker is a video artist who improvises with video, paints with light and investigates the union of sound and image; she co-founded the Performed Audio/Video (PAV) groups NNeng and The Poool. Her live video productions include collaborations with David Weinstein, Julie Nichols, Elise Kermani, 77Hz, Barbara Held and Hoppy Kamiyama performed in USA, Barcelona, Madrid and Tokyo. Her solo work spans photography, glass sculpture and 3D animation presented as installations, 2D and sculpture; she has held residencies at the Experimental Television Center, Women's Studio Workshop and HarvestWorks.

  • Ariana Gerstein People

    Ariana Gerstein is a maker of award-winning experimental films; her short Alice Sees the Light was screened at the Images Festival (Toronto), Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, South by Southwest, SilverDocs, and the New York Film Festival. Her collaboration Hybrid with Montieth McCollum won awards at the International Film Festival in Amsterdam, Slamdance, and the Truer Than Fiction/Independent Spirit Award. She also produces glowing light-box collages from film outtakes and teaches film and video production in the cinema department at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Binghamton.

  • Wayne Ashley People

    Wayne Ashley is an independent new media creator, curator, and consultant who was curator of new media for Thundergulch at the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, organizing public programming on art and technology. He collaborated on House[raw], a three-year multidisciplinary online project, and curated an online exhibit for Nikelab.com. From 1999 to 2001 he was the first Manager of New Media at BAM, where he established the New Media Department and designed Arts in Multimedia (AIM) with Bell Labs; he produced and presented works and web documentaries, curated Under_score for BAM's Next Wave Down Under Festival 2001, and holds an MA and Ph.D. from New York University.
