Stephan Moore

Stephan Moore is a composer, audio artist, and sound designer living in Brooklyn and Troy, New York. He has graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Western Michigan University, and Interlochen Arts Academy. His creative work centers around the collection and use of real-world sound, the creation and perception of sonic environments, and technological manifestations of improvisation and interactivity.

He has worked in the Residency Program at the Experimental Television Center. Recent performances and installation artworks make use of a large multi-channel array of his hand-built hemispherical speakers. He performs regularly as half of the electronic duo Evidence, and with a variety of musicians, live-video artists, and dancers.

He has created custom music software for a number of composers and artists, and has taught courses in sound art and electronic music at Maryland Institute College of Art, Peabody Conservatory, Massachusetts College of Art, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and Simon's Rock College of Bard. He is currently the Sound Supervisor of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company.

    Nicolas Collins, composer and performer of electronic music, is Professor of Sound at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and holds a BA (1976) and MA (1979) from Wesleyan University, CT. He has led Hacking workshops worldwide, worked with John Cage, Alvin Lucier and David Tudor, and is Editor-in-Chief of Leonardo Music Journal. Performances and installations include California Institute of the Arts (Valencia), Walker Arts Center and Whitney Museum of American Art; recordings appear on Lovely Music and Nonesuch; awards include DAAD (Berlin) and Thomas Watson Foundation.

  • Ed Osborn People

    Ed Osborn is a sound and media artist whose installations, sculpture, radio, video, performance and public projects use kinetic and audible systems to explore space, aurality and motion. He has performed, exhibited, lectured and held residencies across the Americas, Europe and Australia and received grants from the Guggenheim Foundation, the Creative Work Fund, Arts International and Meet the Composer. Residencies include DAAD Artists‑in‑Berlin and Banff Centre; exhibitions include ZKM, Berkeley Art Museum and MassMOCA; he teaches in Brown Universitys Visual Arts Department and is represented by Catharine Clark Gallery.

  • David Galbraith People

    David Galbraith is a New York–based composer, performer and media artist working in sound installations, video, software and performances with self-built analog electronics. Composition 2005 No. 1 was shown at Diapason and is slated for a Diapason DVD; he received a 2006 Finishing Funds grant from the Experimental Television Center/NYSCA for lgOpre and enhanced it at STEIM in 2007. His work has been exhibited at P.S.1/MoMA, New Museum and KW Institute; he holds an M.F.A. (California Institute of the Arts, 1996) and a B.S. (University of Wisconsin-Madison, 1988).

  • Jonathan Zalben People

    Jonathan Zalben is an artist-composer working at the intersection of interactive art and music composition; he designs pieces that combine live instruments and recorded sound so the audience functions as performer. He holds a BA in Music from Yale and an MA in music composition and multimedia from New York University and studied at Juilliard Pre-College; he has received grants from organizations including Experimental TV Center and ASCAP. He was a 2000 research fellow at Argonne National Laboratory, in 2003 was in residence at STEIM, and his Compound Pilot collaboration won the Classic Web Award at SXSW 2006.
