Taryn FitzGerald

Taryn FitzGerald is a video artist living in Brooklyn. She received a BFA in Studio Art from Carnegie Mellon University in 1984, and then worked as a graphic designer while pursuing photographic projects. In 1994, she studied at l'Ecole Supérieure d'Art Visuel in Geneva, Switzerland, where she began working in video.

In 1996, she received an MFA, as well as the Paula Rhodes Memorial Award, from the School of Visual Arts, Photography and Related Media Department. Her videos have been shown in exhibitions and festivals in NYC, including screenings at Art in General, The Knitting Factory, and Anthology Film Archives. Her work was included in The 32nd Annual NY Exposition of Short Film and Video last year. She has received awards and grants for her video work - most recently from The Alternative Museum and The Experimental Television Center. Currently, she is an instructor of digital video at the School of Visual Arts.

    Courtney Rile is an artist, curator and arts coordinator based in Syracuse, NY; her video art has been shown internationally and locally, including the first Syracuse International Film and Video Festival. In 2005 she curated the moving-images program Videohm at an upscale lounge and bar in Syracuse, presenting nearly 300 hours of international experimental film and video and VJ work; she also coordinated the exhibition Clement Greenberg In Syracuse: Then & Now at ThINC's Company Gallery that year.   • Eve Heller People

    Eve Heller studied film at SUNY Buffalo's Department of Media Study and at New York University; she received a BA in German Literature from Hunter College in 1987 and an MFA in filmmaking from Bard College in 1993. After graduating she worked as a post-production manager at Film/Video Arts, a non-profit media access center in New York City. Her films have been shown in the U.S. and internationally at venues including the Whitney Museum of American Art, the American Museum of the Moving Image, Anthology Film Archives, Pacific Film Archives, Toronto's Cinematheque Ontario, and the Rotterdam International Film Festival; she currently lives and works in Buffalo, NY.

  • Barbara Rosenthal People

    Barbara Rosenthal (born 17 August 1948) is a New York–based conceptual polyartist who has produced photographs, videos, super/8 films, objects, games, performances, book-art and interactive novelties; her work was shown at The Jewish Museum (Time and Memory: Video Art and Identity, 1988) and the Center For Photography in Woodstock (Time, Memory, and the Limits of Photography, 1995), and is held by The Whitney Museum and MoMA. She studied at the Brooklyn Museum Art School, Art Students' League (1964–66), earned a B.F.A. from Carnegie-Mellon (1970) and an M.F.A. from Queens College/CUNY (1973), and has taught at numerous institutions including Tisch School of the Arts/NYU and CUNY/College of Staten Island (teaching Writing since 1992); published books include Clues to Myself (1981), Sensations (1984), Homo Futurus (1996) and Soul & Psyche (1999).

  • Lauren Petty People

    Lauren Petty is a media artist and teacher working in sound, installation and film; she earned an MA in Video Art & Performance from NYU's Gallatin school in 1999 and is Chief Video Engineer at Harvestworks Media Arts Center. She teaches at The New School, the International Center of Photography and Pratt Institute and produces multiple-channel video/sound installations, single-channel works, interactive video scores and collaborative projects with The Wooster Group. Her work has been exhibited and screened at institutions including The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Brooklyn Museum; she has received grants and fellowships, including two New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowships, and residencies at MacDowell and Yaddo.

  • Laurie Beth Clark People

    Laurie Beth Clark was raised in New York City and holds a B.A., an M.A. in Visual Arts and an M.F.A.; since 1985 she has lived in Madison, Wisconsin, where she teaches Installation and Video and has held administrative roles. Her multidisciplinary practice uses video, performance, installation and multimedia to examine social issues; projects in Germany consider the holocaust and other genocides, and she is developing international research on trauma memorials and shopping environments. She received fellowships from Jerome and McKnight and published in anthologies such as A Performance Cosmology (Routledge, 2006).

  • Rebekah Rutkoff People

    Rebekah Rutkoff holds a BA from Oberlin College and pursued studies at the New School for Social Research, New York University and the University of Iowa; she co-curated the Brooklyn Pier Show. Her photography and video art have been shown internationally, with exhibitions and screenings at Aurora Picture Show (TX), Anthology Film Archives (NY), Jaraf Video (NY), Smart Gals Productions (CA), Bronx River Art Center (NY), TBA Exhibition Space (IL), and venues in Puerto Rico and Paris. In 2001 she co-founded the Jaraf video art screening series in New York City.
